This presentation provides an overview of reactive and unconventional main-group reagents, how X-ray and neutron crystallography have influenced our ligand design strategy, and the ways we can exploit this to elicit divergent and unprecedented modes of reactivity at main-group element centres. We will discuss previously published results in this area, together with our recent developments, to highlight our direction and objectives moving forward.
