Lauren K Macreadie

Dr Lauren Macreadie is a UNSW Scientia Fellow and Scientia Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry at UNSW Sydney. Her research focuses on the design and characterisation of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and other porous materials for applications in sustainable energy and chemical separations, including hydrogen storage and transport, gas separations and atmospheric water harvesting. Her group has particular expertise in using X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques to understand how porous materials respond structurally to external stimuli, including temperature, pressure and guest adsorption. Lauren completed her PhD with CSIRO and Monash University in 2016 before undertaking research at Trinity College Dublin on MOF-based water-splitting systems. She subsequently returned to CSIRO in Melbourne, where she investigated MOF adsorbents for respiratory protection in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Group. In 2020, she joined Massey University in New Zealand as a Lecturer before returning to Australia in 2021 to commence an ARC DECRA Fellowship at the University of Sydney. She moved to UNSW Sydney in 2022 as a Scientia Senior Lecturer, where she now leads a research group developing responsive porous materials and new approaches to understanding their structure–property relationships.
